Well after addressing the issue you found, try to put everything as it was before you ever had any problems, and see if you corrected it. I've also noticed that on the panel this circuit has a 2 wires cable, so at some point between the panel and the switch, the wires changes from a 2 wires cable to a 3 wires cable. I don't know because I didn't put the lighting switch back yet, I will try tomorrow. Thanks in advance again, after I will send the invoice to the electrician that came here. Does it make sense? My understanding is that a 3 wire cable we can do two circuits with one neutral (probably not allowed in actual codes but. Any tip? Should I just put a connector in the red and leave him alone or should I connect to the hot? Maybe, it is feeding some other location. So, I am not sure why the red is giving 50V. I measured Black&White=120V, Red&White=0V, and Black&Red=50V. My old aluminum cable on the lighting switch box have 3 wires (Black/White/Red) and I am not sure what is going on with the red wire. I didn't plug the LED lights back again because I was not sure of something that I need some help again. When I found the issue on the light, I've just removed the light fixture and cleanned the wires, connected back and bang, 120V on the plugs. Some voltage but not enough to start the blender. That's probably why it was not running the blender I used to test. I looks like someone added a light on the same circuit downstream in the basement and guess what the neutral was completely burned.īefore start anything, I've measured again the Voltage and it was reading 114V on the plugs. Today, I revisit the issue and I believe I've found the issue. ![]() My feeling is that when nothing is plugged, the Voltage is there but when I plug something, there electricity travels elsewhere, not inside the equipment. I took my multimeter and I was reading 120V, but when I plug anything it doesn't have power to run, I've tried a radio and starts, but right after goes out. ![]() After, I also noticed that the lights started to flickering sometimes when turned on. I notice by change once I was using the laptop plugged on the wall and it was showing that my battery down, so I realized that there was no power charging my laptop. Everything worked well when I bought the house, but some time after, I've noticed that the plug was losing power. There are 3 plugs and someone installed 6 new LED lighting (120V - 9W recessed). The problem is basically in my living room. I live in a 40+ year house with aluminum wiring and some new copper wiring of recent renovations. I am triggered by what is happening in my old house.
